Out-of-hours, night and weekend dental emergencies

Searching for a 24-hour emergency dentist? Here’s exactly what we can and can’t do outside normal hours, and where to go for help if we can’t.

What we offer outside normal hours

  • Online booking is open 24/7. The booking page shows every free time in our diary, including evening and weekend times when we have them. Book one at 2am and it’s yours.
  • Our phone, 0121 582 4557, is answered whenever we can. We can’t promise someone will pick up at every hour. If we miss your call, we text you a booking link and call back when we’re free.
  • Prefer us to call you? Leave your number in the form below and we’ll ring as soon as we can.

We are not a 24-hour clinic

We don’t have a dentist in the building through the night. If you need help when we can’t see you, use these:

  • NHS 111 (phone or online), 24 hours a day. They can arrange an urgent NHS dental appointment, including at weekends and on bank holidays, when one is available.
  • A&E or 999 for swelling affecting breathing or swallowing, uncontrolled bleeding, or a serious face or head injury.

Call 999 or go to A&E now if swelling is spreading towards your eye, down your neck or under your tongue, you’re finding it hard to breathe or swallow, you have a high temperature with facial swelling, bleeding won’t stop after 20–30 minutes of firm pressure, or you’ve had a serious injury to your face or head.

Getting through the night

  • Painkillers, if safe for you: ibuprofen and paracetamol following the packet doses.
  • Sleep with your head raised, and avoid hot, cold or sweet things.
  • For a knocked-out adult tooth, follow these steps and get help immediately. Don’t wait until morning.

Cost: the emergency consultation is £54. If you need treatment, we tell you the price before we start, and nothing is done without your agreement. All fees are on our prices page, taken from The Dentist West Midlands’ price list.
